Rare Russian Photos

(back to Portraits and Publicity menu)

The following rare photos are portraits supplied for publicity purposes by Morris Gest to announce the forthcoming 1925 tour of the Moscow Art Theatre in America. Olga still spelled her name "Baklanova" (with a "k") at that time. The final five photos date from 1923-4 and were also used to publicize Olga's forthcoming arrival in America. It was Mr. Gest who in 1926 convinced Olga to stay in America; she would never again visit her Russian homeland.
